Its features don't even align with the features listed in the story. I hate that people think this is a good graphing calculator, or that people think unemployed developers would sneak into Apple HQ to make this. Grapher.app is an overrated piece of crap.

Graphing Calculator was so solid they'd run it in a loop for days on end to test hardware. Simply zooming in can completely change a graph's shape. Grapher.app seems to lack basic numeric stability.

Graphing Calculator was written and tested by real math nerds, and the algorithms it used were robust.

This is the worst app that's included with macOS, and I can't believe they ship it. Even something as basic as dragging a selection box leaves droppings on the screen.

Graphing Calculator had a perfect UI - there were no obvious flaws at all, and the workflow was completely intuitive.

In Grapher.app, there's very limited animation, and most changes are instantaneous, which is disorienting.

In Graphing Calculator, everything was animated, so it was easy to visualize things like how much the axis would grow when you clicked a zoom-in or zoom-out button.

( Why? It's not like computers can't tell if you used 2 variables or 3.) In Grapher.app, you first have to deal with a modal dialog box to select the type of equation you plan to type.

In Graphing Calculator, you could just type an equation, and see it.

They had an example of exactly how to do it right, and they still screwed it up. I can't believe how bad they messed up, both in letting Graphing Calculator go, and in writing / selecting a clone. Grapher.app is a lousy substitute, and worse at everything. The Graphing Calculator was amazing in every way - a true killer app for the Power Macintosh.
